Ok so about a week ago all my icons on my desktop vanished, since then ive gotten the BSOD a few times (the stop error), ive run windows repair to no avail. It does load windows every now and then and works fine. But it blue screens more times than not.
Ran a memory check (windows memory check) and as soon as i clicked on it, it went to the BSOD.
    my system stats are:

    2x 750GB Sata-II in RAID 0
    ASUS P6x58 D Premium Mobo
2x Nvidia GeForce GTX580 in SLI
    6GB Corsair Dominator 1600mhz tripple channel DDR3
Xion PowerReal ATX 80 Plus 1,000w

now this did work good no problem for about a year now. and im getting irritated haha

    Thank you all in advance!

Yes, it says windows was shut down to prevent damage to your computer, etc etc...

    Stop process (main error)

THen there is alot of numbers and stuff... I'll post exactly what it says once i go on lunch I have it written down at home.

Fair enough, I wasn't questioning the error but I was asking for those numbers.

My apologies for not making this clear.

ahh no problem, I ddint get a chance to turn the pc on when i got home, the Dog was going insane. But i did jot down last night the file it says it cannot access.

I believe it said windows was trying to read a write only file (or something like that) and it was iaStor.sys

hopefully that helps a little until i can get you the numbers.. Is there a way to copy the BSOD so i can paste on here exactly what it says?
    Thank you

Probably a dump data log would be best...

Follow these instructions to post a Dump Data Log.

If you do not have a dump, ensure that your machine is configured to write out a dump by following the directions from microsoft

It's a little early to say due to lack of information but indications are a memory problem...

Windows 7 has a built in memory checker, but the best way of testing memory is .....

yeah i ran the windows memory check but as soon as i did and clicked on it it went to a BS... Does memory just randomly go bad? especially top dollar memory? i have 3x2gb corsair dominator 1600mhz DDR3. Ill keep trying the dump tool. hopefully it'll run for me

If you overclock? YEA, BIG chance!

Go back to default settings & hope you didn't permanently damage anything.

Yeah i understand OC'ling raises the risk, but i specifically didnt overclock the memory for that reason, just the processor, Stock clocks on the RAM and graphics cards... still a viable option? I'll try returning to stock clocks and see if that helps until i can run the dump tool and memory check.

Didnt think OCing the processor would affect the memory... I still have much to learn for sure :)

oh and the OC is from cyberpower, i had them do a mild OC before they shipped it. I wanted them to OC it since I wasnt familiar with the i7 chipset. Dont know if that helps ease the "I wanna make my system haul ass so im gonna fry my pc" mindset. :)

Overclocking anything affects all. You'll get higher frequencies running through the system. OC'ing CPU will OC memory too.

Ok well went into the bios to change the voltage settings, not sure what the stock voltage settings are. But i just remembered on my MOBO i do have a reset button and a memcheck button. so i will reset both and report back to see if that solved anything, Im still getting random BS's when windows actually loads...anywhere from 5-10mins being run it will blue screen.

    Wish me luck!

OK so i hit the memOK! button on my mobo and the reset button. Went into my bios and loaded the stock clocks for all settings, The only thing i didnt do is clear the CMOS... Its been booting fine now and seems to be ok. So hopefully it will stay that way. Im still unsure as to why it got like this outta nowhere. I know heat isnt an issue as its a liquid cooled PC and a thermaltake spedo case. I built it to OC and game lol and the OC settings werent really that crazy in perspective, I was stable at 3.68 from the stock 3.06

I will update if it gives me a Blue screen again, but for now i'd say we're resolved. IF it does BS again I think I am gonna just re-install Windows and start from scratch.

    Thank you all!

Things happen... In years past I've ran an older AMD system. Was fine for a few months, then after MS updated one of their system files it started with the BSOD's. If you are running 'past' recommended specs. things like that can happen.
