 How to resolve an issue with opening programs from desktop shortcuts.

For some strange reason in the last week I am unable to open [for example] ACDsee my photo editor and AVG, plus other programs.

This is what comes up:- This application failed to start because it's side-by-side configuration is incorrect.
Please see application log or use the command-line sxstrace.exe tool for more details.

I have not installed anything new apart from windows updates.
I would also like to put my System Info into my PC but I do not know were to find that info.

As a senior computer addict I do however need explicit instructions. Thank you in advance for any help.

If one of the last updates was a VC++ redistributable, uninstall it & you should be fine.

Click on the Orb\Control Panel\Programs and Features. On the left side of the screen click on View installed updates. See if you can remove the update from there.
