Suddenly I can't open the Control Panel folder.
When I click it in the start menu what shows up in the screen is my last entry os Windows Explorer. Amazing, but dsturbing...

 

You need to go to User CP near the top left corner and fill out your PC info and then save it. Different versions of Windows require different answers. Like the old saying goes "different strokes for different folks ".

 

Thanks for your assitance, but how can I go to User CP if I can't open the CP?

 

MrBill is referring to the User Control Panel on this website. The link is on the left end of the green bar near the top of the page.

 

After you do the User CP thing here on the boards, try this.
Start/ORB All Programs/Accessories/System Tools/Control Panel and see if it will let you in that way.

Is your copy of Windows activated?

Have you tried Safe Mode?

I'm running activated Windows Ultimate 7.
I couldn't identify how this Control Panel problem started.
But even following MrBill's path when I click on it waht happens to open is Windows Explorer.

 

You mean when you open Internet Explorer and go to www.WindowsBBS.com, then look around on the the top of the Windows BBS page, find the green bar on the page where it says User Cp, FAQ, Community, New Posts, Search, Quick Links and Log Out then click on the words, "User CP," Windows Explorer on your computer opens?
