Does anyone know how I can restore a Dell PC to the original factory settings if the 'C' Drive has been wiped out.

All the Recovery Files are in their own partition and this is not damaged.

    Many Thanks.

    Thank you for the reply.

I visited the site you show previously, and it did not help.

There is no menu that has an option to restore the system to the factory setting so I will mark the thread as resolved.

Hi, it would help others to help you if you filled in your "System Details "
As Bill stated we don't know what OS you're running or the Model of the Dell PC.
If this is your main system it would be helpful if you add your system details to your profile. Please click on the link and follow those instructions it could save some time when resolving this or further issues.

A common error is to forget to show your system details in your profile
    Quote:
To have your system specifications displayed in your profile, you have to click the link Edit Options, and under Thread Display Options > System Specifications select Yes from the drop-down menu.
If you do add your system specifications be sure to do the above

What do you get when you hit F8 at Startup?

How have you "Resolved" the problem.

It's courteous to let others know who may have been following this Thread what fixed your problem. Neil.

I have not resolved the problem and I thought I had made this clear when I said

"There is no menu that has an option to restore the system to the factory setting so I will mark the thread as resolved. "

If there is a recovery partition on the hard drive, pressing CTRL+F11 when the Dell Splash Screen appears should take it to the recovery mode.

There is an Undamaged Recovery Partition on the Hard Drive and pressing CTRL+F11 at startup doesn't do anything.

This is one of the suggestions that is found when one Googles the problem and I have tried everything that was found and nothing works.

retiredlearner asked "What do you get when you hit F8 at Startup?" and I can't answer that exactly right now because I was so disgusted with Dell that I gave the PC away. I will however visit the person I gave it to and write down what pressing F8 gives and will publish this info.

I should add however that since I started this thread I received a message from another Dell owner who had the same problem as I did and agrees with me that there is no way to recover the factory settings.

    Still, we will see.

    This is what F8 gives:-

    Safe Mode
    Safe Mode with Networking
    Safe Mode with Command Prompt
    Enable Boot Logging
    Enable Low-Resolution Video (640 x 480)
    Last Known Good Configuration (Advanced)
    Directory Services Restore Mode
    Debugging Mode
Disable Automatic Restart on System Failure
    Disable Driver Signature Enforcement
    Start Windows Normally

I will pass on any suggestions.

Hi BreezyCricket, This is an extract from Dell Support:

Available on many Dellâ„¢ Dimensionâ„¢ and Inspironâ„¢ computers, Dellâ„¢ PC Restore by Symantecâ„¢ is a hidden partition on your hard drive that contains an exact copy of your computer's original factory software. With PC Restore, you can restore your computer to the original state it was shipped in to you from Dell and in a fraction of the time a manual reinstallation would require.

Was this what you were looking for originally?
You're F8 info is standard MS options - Last known good configuration (Advanced) is what I thought may have helped, but you were wanting Restore to Original state when you recieved it....
Hope this helps to sort out what you want to do. Cheers Neil.;)
