No sound on computer

    In the bottom left of the screen the speaker icons appears mute and there is no way to turn the volume back on, it says some hardware changes may have been made, i have been going through different threads and just cannot find a solution. please someone help

    Being picky here :) I think you mean the bottom right unless you've moved the Taskbar.

    We would be better placed to help you if you completed your System Specs as indicated in the link posted by Wildfire - 32 bit tells us nothing :)

    oh i thought i did that, i guess i did that wrong could you please help me on how to complete that? I'm sorry I'm more used to finding solution through searching not really posting my own

    Follow the instructions in the link and complete all the fields you can, for this particular issue we're interested in sound card/motherboard and OS version (7 comes in a variety of flavours).

    See the My System link on the left ;) of this post for an idea and how my system differs from what you have done.

    Everything you need to know is posted in this link including a guide as to where to find most of the information requested using SIW freeware version.

    With the information to hand .....

    I'm pretty sure SIW would have given you more information than that. Anyway now that we've established it's a DELL I'd start by entering your service tag number here and downloading the latest chipset and sound drivers from the site.

    I Tried that too,and it said that my system is not compatible with the idt format or something like that
