    Hi

I have just bought an iomega network drive and set it up on my network no problem. However my son keeps turning it off at night because it makes too much noise. How do i connect this to a single computer please? I have plugged it into the back of my computer into a network connection but cant map the drive. The network connection is showing as 169.254.39.67 I also have a wireless connection to the internet on the same computer so I wonder if that is interfering somehow.

    Thanks
    Steve

A network drive (NAS - Network Attached Storage) is meant to be connected to a switch or router. You cannot just connect it to your computer and expect it to function as a network drive. Windows won't use 2 network connections simultaneously (wired & wifi).

If it's loud, use a longer network cable to connect it to the router and place it farther away where the noise is heard less.
