I know this is a highly subjective question; but, maybe someone can give me a range. Let's say we have three computers on a broadband connection all doing normal web browsing, no downloading. And let's say we have one XBox and this kid plays games all day long.

What would be a good starting point/minimal bandwidth that might serve this setup?

To be clear, this is not a question about total gigabytes downloaded per month. What I'm asking is about band-width -- rate of transfer that needs to be available. Some refer to it as "speed ".

You are right - it is subjective. Even "normal web browsing" is a subjective phrase. If the kids are playing games over the Internet on the Xbox, then I would say 7gb/s. Without the Xbox you could get by with as little as 3gb/s. If "normal web browsing" includes watching videos (which are buffered) you may need to be a little faster. Of course you have to have a wireless router that can handle it all effortlessly as well (unless all are direct connects).........then again........

Microsoft does not specify a minimum connection speed for Xbox Live. They do specify a "broadband connection ".
Answers to your question vary at google searches.
