:eek:When I wish to send a link via Mozilla Firefox, a notification comes up about a G Mail account, please log in etc.

This does not happen on Google Chrome or Internet Explorer.

Can anyone out there please advise me how to send a link on Mozilla Firefox without interference from G Mail etc.

What I get is the following :-

I think that "gmail notifier" is an addon in Firefox. I'm not a Firefox user but Addons should be under the "tools" menu item.

    G Mail account???????

    Mitch

Nope you are wrong. It is not an addon in any way whatsoever, I think!!

I use Google Chrome for sending links but is a bl---y nuisance when I feel Firefox is better, at least in my opinion

It may help if we understood what you mean by sending links? Are you using another web based email service or is it just that gmail asked for login with FF but not chrome?

    Sending Links

As you should be aware, and I am sure that you are, sending links is when you find a web page of interest and then you send it as a link in an e-mail by clicking on FILE and then click on "send Link ".

You are correct in your comment with G Mail in so much that it ONLY happens with FF and not with GC.

My e-mail service is Outlook 2003

Hope this helps you more Wildfire

I think I am going to have to defer to the FireFox experts here. I did a google search "gmail notification in firefox" and got this set and that is where I got the idea it might be an addon.

I appologize for stepping in and muddying the waters. I'll watch and learn.

Thanks for clearing that up Jacobowizc...

Tools->Options->Applications Tab->mailto and change the selection to Outlook.

Let us know if that helps.

    G Mail, Firefox etc....

Thank you for you idea, however tried it,and already had Outlook as default shown and the same b====y happened again.

Do you think I should give up on this or shall I persevere like you and sort it out. You know it is all down to Google and Mozilla FF. They are the culprits and as I stated before it DOES NOT HAPPEN WITH GOOGLE CHROME OR INTERNET EXPLORER.

It works fine here, have you tried changing the previous setting to always ask and reset it to outlook in the dialog that'll pop up when you use to Send To option.

In the mailto option I described before...

    Tools->Options->Applications Tab->mailto

Change the setting to "Always Ask "

Then when you try File->Send Link a dialog box should appear asking which email service to use. If Outlook isn't listed select choose application and browse to your Outlook program (typically "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office11\Outlook.exe" for 2003).

Don't forget to check the "Remember my choice for mailto links" option at the bottom.

    G Mail and FF

Thank you for your lengthy details.

Have followed your instructions to the letter but when I try File->Send Link the only bl---y box which appears is the G Mail account once.again and again.

I cannot even get to "Don't forget to check the Remember my choice for mailto links" option at the bottom" as you state.

Well I suppose both you and I have at least tried to sort this out. Suppose I shall have to use GC or IE to send my links and let FF do the rest.

Life can be difficult and is never easy.

I have a suggestion, I know, you fly over to Malta at you expense, fares can be cheap, and I will feed and bed you, not literally, for as long as you wish to stay. Now there is an offer you can't refuse as Marlon Brando said in "The Godfather ".

So it is good night from me In Malta cos tomorrow is another day of my life with computers.

I'll have to decline the offer, I don't travel well :(

Can you post which version of Firefox you are using? Help->About Mozilla Firefox.

If less than 3.1.6 please update Help->Check For Updates.

    Ok,

Try to Uninstall Firefox and reinstall. To be honest one of the above suggestions should have worked.

Please confirm your path to Outlook (the one you've instructed Firefox to use).

And sorry about my error previously I did mean version 3.6.13, my brain was addled at the time ;)

    G Mail and the problems

I have reinstalled FF many times but that does not appear to get rid of my problems.

Outlook is my default for FF.

With all respect to you and all that have contributed to my "problem ", I think that we should put it to bed and accept that FF for sending links is a nuisance, therefore shall continue to us Goggle Chrome and / or IE for my purposes

Think we should now close this link and once again thanks to each and every one of you for your contributions.

Again, the full path you supplied?
Sorry, I disagree and I'm sure most other Firefox users would too. I still think we should pursue this issue until it is resolved, however it is of course your decision.

Not Ideal by any means but if this is what you have decided fair enough.

    G Mail and FF

Thank you for your very kind thoughts and I respect your feelings, If FF do not want to help us guys I really find that to pursue the matter further MIGHT be a total waste of effort.

However if you wish to continue the crusade then let me know of any outcome. I have spent much valuable hours and the web tries to give us ideas of how to remove it but to no avail.

How it ever came about, that is the G Mail, problem, I shall never know. Could I have hit the wrong key, gave a wrong response to any question asked. If you are successful in solving my problem, then please let me know.

    I shall live with it.............................................:(
