Guessing that the camera is turned on and you've tried all the USB ports you have?

Hi deangmoxon. Try this click Start< Run and type services.msc and hit enter. The Services window will open. Scroll down to the Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) service. Make sure it is set to Automatic and that it is started. If it is disabled right click the service and click properties. Under Startup type click Automatic and click the Start button to start the service.

Have you installed the drivers for the camera? Do other USB devices work when you plug them into your USB ports?

Also please enter your System Details. It helps us in answering your questions.

Note: A common error is to forget to show your System Details in your profile:

Make sure to do the above when entering your System Details, thanks.

What happens when you try? Do you get an error message?

Do you have Windows XP Service Pack 3 installed?

Do you use Outlook Express/Microsoft Outlook as your e-mail client? Or do you use yahoo, gmail, hotmail, etc?

To find out if you have SP3 installed click Start< Right click My Computer and click properties. Under System it well tell you what Service Pack your computer has installed.

Since you use gmail you just need to send whatever pictures you have as attachments to whoever you are sending an e-mail to. If I recall corretly the send to mail recipient is only used if you have Outlook Express or Microsoft Outook installed and working.

Did you get the camera to work?

Did you try following the instructions in the link that I posted 2 posts ago?

If you did then I can see if there is another solution to your outlook express problem.

Which e-mail address is Outlook Express linked to? Is it your gmail account or something else?

You need to make sure you type in the correct name of the SMTP server. Have you contacted your ISP about this issue?

Also when did this issue start happening with Outlook Express? Was it recently? Did you make any changes to the computer before this issue occurred?

Open Outlook Express and click on the tools menu, then click on accounts. Double click on your Gmail account, then click on the servers tab. Look in the box next to where it says "Outgoing mail (SMTP)" . In the box to the right, make sure it says smtp.gmail.com. From the error message you are getting, it looks like you might just have SMTP in there. Should be smtp.gmail.com. Nothing else will do.

Maybe I need to step back a bit here. Have you set up an account in Outlook Express for Gmail?
