I am trying to create a full image backup of c: to my external drive. Started it yesterday (Sunday, October 24 at 6:00 p.m.). It said it would take 14 Hours. I just got home from work [4:30 a.m. October 25] and it says it still has 9 hours to go.

What am I doing wrong? OR Is this normal?

Hi, I recall when I backed up my drive which is 150GB it only took an hour or two to copy about 100GB. I used a spare hard drive which I simply plugged into the internal wiring and then just did a clone of the drive with Paragon Drive Backup.

I did however, find a couple of fixes which you may find usefull which might avoid having to use my method. I saw mentioned in several places that a firewire can slow transfer rates by a large percentage.

The default Windows settings for FireWire-connected drives can reduce your External drive performance by as much as 90%. This problem is easily corrected, just follow these instructions:

And the following, to check on some drivers,

What transferring method are you using (USB,Firewire,Esata ) and is it an external hard drive. Or do you have a IDE harddrive
I am using a Seagate 500 gig with Disk wizzard. Image backup take me 20 minutes about it going to a External HD thru Esata, If I try it thru USB it take a lot longer.

Thanks for the reply. I almost forgot (no I forgot) I had this thread running. I am using USB 1.5TB Segate External drive.

I go so frustrated with it I just stopped using it and went back to the Segate backup.
