A month or two ago my computer had a few viruses, which were taken care of. After the 'attack' my internet explorer never worked, it would come up with the no connection error. Thankfully I had firefox as well so I've been using it instead, but a lot of programs actually use internet explorer. Therefor, I need it in working order.

I don't know what version I have, nor what type my computer is but I will post information if someone can tell me how to do it. I'm really not a computer savvy kind of person.

    Thanks.

Hi Jayden, Welcome to Windowsbbs! :)

Since you are running Vista open IE and click Help< About to find what version of IE you are running. If you are running IE7 then download and install Internet Explorer 8. Once IE8 is installed see if you still encounter the same error message.

If you do then open IE and click Tools< Internet Options< Connections Tab< Lan Setting button. Make sure everything is unchecked and when done click ok. Then click ok again to close the internet options window. Restart Internet Explorer and you should have your connection restored.

If all fails, Firefox can handle anything which, usually, require IE, with IE Tab 2.
Firefox is my default program, and, in spite of it some websites insist in opening IE, but I can do almost everything with Firefox.

Thanks, I figured it out. I had version 8 and I just needed to uncheck those boxes, now it works. =)
