    I assume you mean 1TB ;)

    Have you tried Samsung's Diagnostics?

Please download HUTIL from Samsung. A userguide for HUTIL is also available from that link.

You could also have a look at Acronis Drive Monitor?

Please post back with the results.

We also encourage people to complete their system details and add them to your profile. Please click on the link and follow those instructions it could save some time when resolving this or further issues.

A common error is to forget to show your system details in your profile

If you do add your system specifications be sure to do the above :)

Windows might be having trouble allocating a drive letter for it. Try going to Disk Management (look it up in in Help and Support, because as mentioned, we don't know things like what version of Windows you have) and right-click on the drive, then allocate a high drive letter (eg. N:, P: or S: ).

Also run Error Checking (CHKDSK) on the drive (or each of the drives if it has more than one partition).

Thanks for the advice guys. Yes i meant 1TB.

I have downloaded Acronis as Hutil didnt really work. The disk checker reads the following.

    Power on time:
    441 day(s)

    Disk health: 16%
Health of the disk is below the warning level at 70. Decreasing disk health may be an indicator of imminent disk failure. Review the S.M.A.R.T. attributes and/or monitoring script messages to determine cause of the problem. <a href= "1 ">Get help online</a>.

    Disk temperature: 32 °C.

Reallocated Sectors count S.M.A.R.T. attribute reported bad block on the drive. Increasing number of bad blocks may be an indicator of imminent drive failure. In this case frequent backup and hardware replacement is recommended.

You might want to disconnect and reconnect the cables to the drive (and at the motherboard) in case there is a bad connection. (As mentioned we don't know your computer details, so I suppose you are talking about a "tower" type.)

The reports don't sound very good. I expect the drive is not very old, so it might be still under warranty. If you send it in for repairs under warranty, your data will be lost, so back up what you can.

Check the basic hardware, something else I would investigate is if the power supply is not being overloaded. It is easy to put an additional drive in the tower, but many manufacturers only supply a PSU big enough to run the basic hardware.

Your C: drive is failing as per SMART report. That's why you are getting slow bootup.

The E: drive seems to be operating normally.

Who is the manufacturer of 1st drive [C:] ? Go to its website, download disk checking utility & scan the hard disk with that.

    Most likely :)
I disagree with this though, but it could be as Matt has mentioned, faulty cables or m/board causing the problems. Perhaps one more reminder to p33kev to complete his system details will help resolve this quicker.

I have now updated my specifications.

Power usage seems ok and disk check reported no faults.

You may have updated them but they are not showing! You have to go to the bottom of the page and tick show system details. Neil.;)

I have run the Hutil diagnostics on my C:(primary) and found errors on the 'Read surface scan'.

I have sent Samsung an email regarding he issues and hope for a quick responce but doesnt sound good.

This drive (C:) in my primary with the other drive (one that cuts out) as my secondary (E:). Can i assume the issue with my secondary is due to failure of my primary. I could not run a diagnostic on my secondary as it was not working at the time.

    Adding to rsinfo's post.

If you suspect your primary is causing an issue with your secondary then disconnect the primary before running Hutil on the other.
