I don't know if STOPzilla is legit, and I don't want to pay $30 in order to clean up my files if it's a scam.

I've done scan after scan, with the help of member Broni.
    Here is that thread: http://www.windowsbbs.com/malware-v...arch-results-being-redirected-ie-firefox.html

Nothing was ever found until I ran STOPzilla.

Basically what happens is that my search results are hijacked - i click on a link and it redirects me to a useless search website such as whattoseek.net.

STOPzilla says 2 of the infected files are trojans that are in the MBR executable which is something i downloaded as advice from this forum. The rest seem to be trojans in registry keys and spyware/adware in cookies.

Is there a way for me to clean this up some other way, instead of paying $30?

    Thanks.

STOPZilla is a rogue program and it should be uninstalled immediately.

If you suspect, your computer may be infected....

Because nothing was working and I was hoping that someone else with different ideas could help me - there is obviously something wrong with my computer. Don't worry, I'll waste someone else's time on another website. Sorry for bothering you.

Your comments above are deplorable, totally unjustified and hurtful to broni. I think an apology is in order.

We are all volunteers on this BBS and give freely of our time - many hours per day in the case of a Malware Analyst, to help out members who have issues with their computers. Other BBS's are run by volunteers too.

The cleaning of a computer is not a simple, straightforward routine, it is more like a forensic investigation which may take a few hours or many hours/days with no guarantee of success at the end of the road.

To suggest that you will go elsewhere and waste the valuable time of volunteers on another BBS is totally despicable.
