my computer kept shutting down at random times. i was told that i should reinstall the operating sysytems. now whenever i try to turn my computer on it appears to be in safe mode. when i open the "my computer "; tab and click on properties there are several drivers that have a yellow flag near them. they include:
    base system device
    base system device
    base system device
    ethernet controller
    network controller
    video controller

when i click on any of the above and click reinstall driver it wont install!

    HELP PLEASEE!

The first thing you need to do is to provide your System Details. On the upper left hand corner of this screen is a menu bar. Select 'User CP' and the second option there is 'Edit System Details'. Fill it out. This helps people to diagnose your problem.

You need to reinstall the Driver/Utilities CD that came with your motherboard and/or system

Did you get a disk, a drivers disk, with the computer when you got it? Otherwise you will need to start identifying the motherboard (unless it is an OEM computer with a system model number) and any other hardware devices, like a video card if it is not built into the motherboard.

Can you tell us about the disk and maybe list the drivers it seems to have installed?

Some system manufacturers put the driver files onto the hard disk, but don't actually install them. They might be put into a folder on the C: drive, for example, Lenovo (IBM) and Dell put them into a folder C:\Drivers, but I have seen Lenovo use C:\SWTOOLS. The drivers might not actually be installed, you might need to go to that folder and run the setup program (Setup.exe). Check for any instructions for the installation of the drivers.

If the drivers were actually installed, Windows should identify and load them automatically. Sometimes it doesn't happen that way. In Device Manager, highlight the devices and at the top of the box you will see an Unistall button. Uninstall them, restart the computer, then Windows might load them.

Apart from that, we can't help you much/any further, because we need to know the system information about your computer. See if you can use SIW
to help you get the information

If it is an OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) computer like a Dell, HP, Sony, Gateway, etc., if you go to their website and to the Support webpage, they will tell you how to find the system's model number. Let us know what it is.

No, they will just go back to the way they are now.
