    [Inactive] widows security alert

I have 'Windows Security Alert' window preventing me going on -line on other PC. it insists that I purchase their virus protection, but I do not want their system, I have Mcafee and a register booster,'Uniblue'.
The anti virus system wanting to take over is 'Antivirus Suite' of Great Marlborough Street London.
Every cd I put in is infected it says.
I prefer to put another AV system that I am used too.
How can I get rid of this Windows Security Alert.
    OS Windows XP Pro.
    Spanner.

It sounds like you're infested. Did you run Mcafee yet?

Unable to run Mcafee or download anything,Page shows 'Internet Explorer Warning' followed by 'visiting this web site may harm your computer' and,' The website contains exploits that can launch a malicious code on your computer.' ' Suspicious network activity detected.'
'There might be an active spyware running on your computer.'
    ' What you can try'
'Purchase for secure internet serfing (reccomended)'
'Check your computer for viruses and malware.'
    'More information'
Whatever I click on it comes back to the Puchaser Antivirus Suite. It ran a scan and came up with over 3000 errors.
The scan I did with Uniblue showed no errors.

Geri posted a link to the download for DDS - repeated here

DDS is an analytical program which looks at what is loaded and/or running on your system and provides a basis for a Malware Expert to work with.

Download URL's are given in the article linked to above.

Download on another computer and save to a USB stick. Plug the USB stick into your computer and copy the file to the desktop - important!

DDS will produce 2 loge - copy/paste the contents of each into this thread which I have moved to the Malware & Virus Removal forum.

That is an option providing that you do a clean install with format.

If you intend to post the DDS logs please do not consider reinstalling XP - one or the other - I suggest posting the logs :)

Thanks PeteC, I will do the DDS Log as suggested. I have set up another PC to download the DDS and transfer to the problem PC, I am in the middle of putting together our Monthly Newsletter, It always happens like that.
    I will keep in touch,
    Spanner.

Thanks for advise re downloading DDS, did that on another PC to memory stick.tried memory stick in faulty PC to run a log, got message ' This is movable storage is infected'
checked it against another PC and it is not. Got in touch with suppliers of PC
( Refirbished unit) they accepted it back, with some insistance from me, and installed another hard drive. this is working ok and I have now full Mcafee protection.
I would have liked to have completed the DDS download exercise, if I have to again (and I hope not) I will know what to do.
    Thanks to all. Spanner.
I will mark this as solved, albeit not as planned.
