My desktop icon's text boxes are the color specified in desktop properties/appearance/advanced/desktop. They used to be transparent, looking like a box-less label under the icon. I've tried all of the obvious stuff, but cannot find how to make the text boxes transparent again. Anyone???

Also go to My Computer and right-click it > Properties > Advanced Tab > Settings button (Performance Area) > scroll down and tag the box labeled "Use drop shadows for icon label on the desktop. "

That fixed it. My 'lock desktop items' box was checked. When I unchecked it, all was well. Goddez1, ya did so well on that one, would you take a look at another post I made last year? Title: IE8 Form AutoComplete problem

    Tks

    So sorry SCFrance,

As luck would have it, I neither use IE, prefer FireFox, nor any "autocomplete form" feature, in either browser. I can't help you with that one. I am happy to see that your original problem has been solved though.

Your most welcome, for that, and thank you for the update. :)
