    Hi there,

This is making me nuts! I don't know what caused it, but somehow, the text on the desktop icons are no longer transparent and looks very ugly on a background image. I searched for "desktop icon text transparent" and came up with the same answer over and over again. Control Panel - System - Advanced - Performance, and then make sure the "Use drop shadows for icon labels on desktop" is checked. I did all that and even the other two suggestions in the link below and it just wont work!

    Please help!

    Thanks,
    Simone

Only other suggestion I'd have is to try & do a system restore to a point prior to the problem starting.

    Hi tikidoll,

Many have found that if the previously mentioned items, described in the link you have used, have not worked that a:
    >right click on desktop
    >select properties
    >select desktop tab
    >click on the customize desktop button
    >Click on the web tab
    > make sure nothing in the web page items list is checked or alternatively uncheck and delete any items that may be listed
    >now make sure the lock desktop items is unchecked
apply (if applicable) and okay your way out.

For some reason if you have previously used a wallpaper or something that required active web desktop and have later chosen to deselect this, old items left in the list have caused a problem with transparent icons.

    Fixed!

Thanks goddezz, I did what you said and now it's fixed. Thanks also for the System restore tip. I would have done it if all else failed. :D

    Hello again, tikidoll,

I'm so glad this worked and your most welcome. Thank you for both the bbs update and the private message (PM). :)
