    [Inactive] Anti Virus Soft

    I have just tried to use my computer ( as an administrator). It wont let me. It keeps going to internet explorer cannot display. It shows that "antivirus soft is scanning my computer. I stop the scan and try to close using the "x" but it will not allow me to go or do anything. I have now used my son's account which has limited accessability. What can I do now?

    I have not run any logs because Im not sure if this user account will give you what you need.

    Please help

    Thanks

    Dana

    I can see an infection there, so let's have a look to see if MBA-M will get it first.

    Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware (http://www.majorgeeks.com/Malwarebytes_Anti-Malware_d5756.html) to your desktop.

    * Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
    * At the end, be sure to checkmark the Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
    * If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
    * Download the update from here if you have problems.
    * Once the program has loaded, select Perform quick scan, then click Scan.
    * When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
    * Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
    * When completed, a log will open in Notepad.
    * Post the log back here.

    The log can also be found here:
    C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\Logs\log-date.txt
    Or at C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\Logs\log-date.txt

    Make sure that you restart the computer.

    ==============

    Download HijackThis Executable from here. Save it to your desktop.
    Start HJT & press the "Do a system scan and save a log file" button. When the scan is finished a window will pop up giving you the option of where to save it. Save it to desktop where it is easy to access. Open the log file and then go to the format Tab and make sure that wordwrap is unchecked. Copy the entire contents of the file & paste it into the body of your post. DO NOT FIX ANYTHING YET. Most of what is there is necessary for the running of your system.

    I had to run an older un updated version because i cannot do anything from the administrator's account. All other accounts are limited. I already had Malwarebytes and was able to run this scan from my son's limited account but I was unable to update because the user account is limited. Everything I try to do from the administrator account is stopped and a box tells me that the particular file I am trying to use or open is infected and asks me to update my security systems. Anyways, this older version did not pick up anything.

    It gave me a note that said "For some reason your system denied acces to the Hosts file. If any hijacked domains are in this file Hijackthsi may not be able to fix this. If that happens you need to edit the file yourself. To do this, click start, run and type: notepad C:\WINDOWS\System32\drivers\etc\hosts and press enter. nFind the lin(s) Hijackthis reports and delete them. Save the file as "hosts" (with quotes) and reboot.

    I have not done anything yet.

    Thanks

    I supplied a link for a manual update. Did you try that? http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam/database/mbam-rules.exe

    ==

    Please download ComboFix by sUBs from HERE or HERE
    • You must download it to and run it from your Desktop
    • Physically disconnect from the internet.
    • Now STOP all your monitoring programs (Antivirus/Antispyware, Guards and Shields) as they could easily interfere with ComboFix.
    • Double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
    • When finished, it will produce a log. Please save that log to post in your next reply along with a fresh HJT log
    • Re-enable all the programs that were disabled during the running of ComboFix..

    Note:
    Do not mouse-click combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

    CF disconnects your machine from the internet. The connection is automatically restored before CF completes its run. If CF runs into difficulty and terminates prematurely, the connection can be manually restored by restarting your machine.

    Run Combofix ONCE only!!

    I have tried to run combofix from my son's account. It tries to open and then asks "Were you trying to run CFScript. The name appears to incorrectly spelt ".

    I then tried to move it from my son's desktop to the "owners" desktop (through "My computer ") it asks me if I wan't to move this read only file. I tried to run it but the virus stopped my by telling me the file is infected. So far, still square one.

    I couldn't find a way of shutting off AVG, so I uninstalled it altogether.

    Thanks

    Before I uninstalled AVG, When I started up it would tell me that file BYUGSFTAV.EXE was trying to connect. I would always block but I think it will connect now because I have no virus protection. I have tried to ggogle this file to find out more but it doesn't show anything.

    I'm happy to say that i have been able to remove something using Superspyware Antivirus (5 Threats). Everything seems to be working OK now. Should we run some scans to see if everything went?

    Thanks for your help so far!!!!!!

    Can you please do the following.

    ===============

    Scan with HijackThis and then place a check next to all the following, if present:

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [sijpilfq] C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Local Settings\Application Data\lrqewf\byugsftav.exe
    O4 - Global Startup: Wireless Connection Manager.lnk = ?

    Now, close all instances of Internet Explorer and any other windows you have open except HiJackThis, click "Fix checked ".

    ===============

    Locate and delete the following item(s), if present. Make sure you are able to view system and hidden files/ folders:

    folders...

    C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Local Settings\Application Data\lrqewf

    -

    Note that some of these file(s)/folder(s) may or may not be present. If present, and cannot be deleted because they're 'in use', try deleting them in Safe Mode by doing the following:
    • Restart your computer
    • After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
    • Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear.
    Select the first option to run Windows in Safe Mode hit enter.

    -

    Reboot.

    ===============

    Please do an online scan with Kaspersky WebScanner

    It's best to disable real time protection applications as they sometimes interfere with the scan.

    Check this link for any applicable programs you may have (check under How to Temporarily Disable your Anti-virus).

    Click on Accept If your pop –up blocker blocks any windows from opening.

    Click Run on the window that opens.

    Windows Vista users you must open the web browser using the Run as Administrator command - accessible from the right-click menu from the browser shortcut.

    • The program will launch and then begin downloading the latest definition files.
    • When completed, under Scan on the left side, click on My Computer.
    • This will start the scan of your system.
    • The scan will take a while so be patient and let it run.
    • Once the scan is complete it will display if your system has been infected.
      • Click Report on the left side.
      • Click the Save Report button, and in the Save dialog box, type a name for the scan report file that you want to create and select its type as Text file. Click OK to save the file.
    • Copy and paste that information in your next post.

    Please post the Kaspersky results.
