Resolved My computer cannot install Security Updates XPKB958470 AND XPKB76098

Hello,

When I am prompted to install Security Updates XPKB958470 AND XPKB76098, I choose the standard method. My computer then attempts to install them but over the last week (four attempts) it always comes back telling me that it cannot install them.

Thank you. They did not install automatically. It is a pattern. they do not install and they are scheduled to be installed the next day which they are unable to do and so forth.

 

You could try manually downloading and installing the updates

Thank you. when I just manually downloaded the one ending in 0 I received a setup error telling me that files from this package are incompatible with files on your system.

 

You can download Windows Installer CleanUp Utility: http://download.microsoft.com/download/e/9/d/e9d80355-7ab4-45b8-80e8-983a48d5e1bd/msicuu2.exe

Install it
Then run it (it will be in your Start > Program group)
Locate the two KB updates, and remove them
Then restart
Then manually install the KB updates again

See if that works (anyway that's what I'd do)
