One USB port stopped working

    Hi,
    I have 2 usb ports on the front of pc. One of them recently stopped working. When I plug something in..flash drive, ipod charging etc. nothing. Can this be fixed?

    You may have fried the port.

    2 options to rule out software/drivers

    1) Try a system restore to a point before this started happening.

    2) Uninstall your USB ports in device manager and let windows reinstall them.

    Post back with your findings or if you need further instructions.

    I'm a little frightened to uninstall the usb ports. I have one working in front & 6 in back. I'll just live with the one working in front. If I uninstall and ***** up I loose monitor, printer, mouse, keyboard.

    You won't lose your monitor ;)

    If your wary post your system details (see below) to give us a better idea of your hardware.

    For what it's worth I wouldn't recommend charging any device from on board USB, buy a powered USB hub if this is important to you.

    If this is your main system it would be helpful if you add your system details to your profile. Please click on the link and follow those instructions it could save some time when resolving this or further issues.

    A common error is to forget to show your system details in your profile
