    Hello all!

I wish to "update" my profile with the information on "my system specs ". Where would I find that information? I have looked under "My Computer ", right clicked, checked properties, and under "device manager ". But am lost as to where to find or what to look for in regards to several of the required fields (i.e. make/model, motherboard, video card, etc.). Does that application even offer the information I need?

My OS is WinXP Pro. Any help/suggestions on where I can find this information would be greatly appreciated!

    Regards,
    Vicki

Hi Vicki. To find more detailed information about your computer click Start< Run and type dxdiag and hit enter. When the DirectX Diagnostic Tool window opens, it will tell you all the information about your currect system.

Vicki, the alternative: Start > All programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Information. Cheers Neil.;)

Another option is to download and install Belarc Advisor, a free program that will allow you to easily see an amazing amount of info about your system and what's in it.

Two additional free programs that display similarly detailed info are EVEREST Home Edition and SiSoft Sandra Lite.

    Thanks for the info!

Thanks to everyone who supplied information on where I could find the information I needed. If someone wouldn't mind checking my specs to see if I have filled it in correctly? I still have a few questions as to where/why I couldn't find the following info:

    1. video card
    2. power supply
    3. O/S--32 or 64 bit

I did "download" the Belarc Adviser (printed that out for my own quick reference!) Also checked using both the run>dixdiag and the system tools> system information, but I either couldn't understand where those items I couldn't find were listed or just I overlooked them.

    Thanks again!
    Vicki

    In SIW .....

Video Card - Hardware > Devices > Display Adapters

Power Supply - that is not shown in SIW - physical examination of the PSU will reveal it's rating, but you need to open the case. I would not bother with this

O/S - SIW - Software > Operating System . If you are running 64-bit, which is increasingly possible these days, you will see x64 alongside the OS.

Happy to check your System Specs, but you have not completed the final stage ....

    Looks ok Vicki,

A couple of minor points ;)

Not important (unless you have a H/Ware problem that could be RAM related), in SIW under Hardware->memory you should have a Memory type listed (eg DDR(PC1700) ), if you add them to your memory field it may come in handy.

As I said though it's not important so don't worry about it.

I would however suggest you upgrade to SP3, there have been several security updates since SP2 and SP2 will soon lose support from MS.
