    Hi,

Can you please share what you've tried?

I assume you've tried to pull both devices from their ports I assume are USB and plug them back in, yes?

If so, does Windows then recognize the "new" plug and play hardware with no warnings?

When did these issues begin? Did they just arrive suddenly?

Did you make any changes to your system before these problems arrived?

Are you having any other problems with the system?

And, do you have a firewall, an antivirus and antimalware apps running?

Hi Poody & welcome to BBS,
A couple of things first, what type of mouse & Keyboard, PS2 (small round plugs) or USB?
Are they wireless units? Have you checked the batteries if they are?
If they are USB have you enabled USB support for both in the Bios Settings?

Are these the original set or a replacement set?

    regards Jac

Mouse is a usb & key board is ps/2 Yes I have tried unplugging key board & mouse.
Ck. Bios settings are ok. When I go online to down load a program it starts then along the way things freeze up, This also happens when I try to open a program. The only way to get out of it is to power down and start over. Then same thing Happens.
    Thanks Poody

    Hi, Poody,

Have you tried booting into Safe Mode? If so, does that enable normal functions?

I have a similar keyboard/mouse set up and you need to check or replace batteries in BOTH keyboard and mouse. It worked for me...

How do we know they have batteries? I believe they are not wireless. Or, I could be wrong.

For whatever it may be worth, including not much, my current take is, Poddy may be infected and should maybe follow the site's directions & post logs, etc.

This now no longer feels like hardware issue to me.

Hi poody, Welcome to Windowsbbs! :)

Have you tried booting the computer into Safe Mode? Do the keyboard and mouse still freeze? Have you tried running System Restore to restore your computer to a time before you had this problem?

If System Restore doesn't work and the keyboard and mouse freeze in Safe Mode then I would suspect Malware is involved and as a result its slowing your system down causing the keyboard and mouse to freeze up.

If that is the case then read this and post the requested logs in a new thread in the Malware and Virus Removal Forum.
