My computer moved and the power cable disconnected. i tried to reconnect it and there was a spark. This froze the computer.

I choose to restart the machine and what was G drive has been missing. This drive is a sata seagate packed with 700 gigs of information.

This has i admit happened in the past. The drive always became a working drive again.

I thought perhapse the driver for the pci card could have broke however it appears working in the device manager.

My c driver work, my external D driver works how ever the G drive isn't available.

Hi styleten Welcome to WindowsBBS :)

I have to be honest here, it's not looking good.

Can you confirm the seagate is connected to your system internally via PCI SATA Controler?

You may have a problem with your Hard Drive please download HUTIL from Samsung and report back the results. A userguide for HUTIL is also available from that link.

PeteC wrote a page explaining how to add your system details to your profile.

Please click on the link and follow those instructions it could save a some time when resolving this or further issues.

If any links I have provided in this post are out of date please let me know and I will endevour to post a valid link.

First I have to apologise, I provided the wrong link in my earlier post. However I did say download HUTIL not DFT. Please read further instructions carefully. If you are confused post back for clarification.

    1) You still haven't answered my earlier question.

    2) Your system details still do not appear in your profile, did you change profile settings

    3) Please download HUTIL and post the results.

Once again I apologise for the waste of time earlier

Yes the seagate is connected. Its very very fragile. If it moves it seems to freeze the computer.

I don't think my system information will give you enough information cause i don't know much about the machine itself.
Pentium 4, 2.66 GHz, 1.25 Ram Windows xp home service pack 2
I made the adjustment so it can be seen by people when the click system information.

I'm working on that download now

Ur link brings me here... I downloaded the first one and when i tried to run it, nothing at all happened. It opens for a moment then closes with no real actions performed. Making me I'm linked to the wrong thing.

OK I've goggled and downloaded 4 different files of the same hutil from samsung. None of them work so i obviously don't know what to do with it. I unzip it i click on the cmd file and nothing happens. I don't think seagate is made by samsung. Maybe there is a incomparability issue.?.

No problem, hopefully someone will assist you soon.

I would suggest you read their instructions carefully though and if you have any questions ask.

I'm switching ISP's soon and may not be online for a while but I'll look in here and see how you got on when I'm back.

    All the best :)

I'm lost...Is this an External Drive that SPARKED and KILLED something?

If so, can the drive be taken out of its case and hooked up as an Internal Drive?

I'm not sure why wildfire pointed you to a Samsung drive utility, you should get the Seagate version instead.

Since it looks you are able to boot in Windows, download SeaTools for Windows. You can find the tutorial for the tool here

    @styleten,

Please accept my apologies by leading you the wrong way, I read seagate but saw samsung. It's no excuse but I can only say I had a lot on my mind at the time.
