If you have an actual Vista disk, do a Startup Repair
You should put your system specifications in your profile (when you get the system working or at least put in as much information as you can). Adding System Specifications to your Profile

I suggest checking your hard drive for problems:

    1. Make sure your PC can boot directly from the Vista DVD
    2. Start the PC with the Vista DVD in the DVD drive
    3. If prompted, press any key to start Windows from the installation disk
    4. Next you'll get to a selection screen where you have to select your language and keyboard language, after you made your selection click Next
    5. At the bottom left of the next screen, click on the Repair Your Computer option
    6. The System recovery options will now search for your Windows Vista installation. Once the Vista installation has been located, highlight it and then click the Next button
    7. You are now presented with a set of recovery options, choose Command Prompt
    8. Run chkdsk /f. After the operation finishes, type exit to close the command prompt & restart your computer.

See if Arie has any comments.

Your RAM is quite high quality in my opinion.
I would take the modules out and swap them in the slots. Check that there is a good air flow around them (clean out any dust).

Do you have the manual for the motherboard? If not you could download it from the motherboard manufacturer's website. Read about memory and how it is installed in the manual.

Chaosmachine420, I don't think you will be able to overcome this problem easily or simply. My information was hard found.

If your boot DVD does not work the way our descriptions say, it may not be a standard disk.

Making complex adjustments may not be what we can guide you though. The instructions I posted were the best I could find (for a beginner).

If you say the instructions did not work, you might need to take it to a professional or someone you know that is knowledgeable (show them our suggestions).

So you'll have to start by replacing the memory. Crucial has a lifetime warranty AFAIK.

    Right... You posted before

So that seems to imply something else.

If you have now concluded that it is one of your memory slots you should be good to use the other slot.

I'd check if the motherboard is still under warranty (3 years for MSI), if so I'd RMA it.

I wouldn't "trust" a motherboard with a failed component. Never know what may fail next.
