Windows Vista downloads disappear

    when i download a file it disappears. doesnt matter if i save or run.any ideas

    Providing a lot more information will help a lot more.

    Are you specifing the folder that you want the download to go to?
    Are you getting the download complete message?
    What happens when you search the hard drive with the exact name of the download file?

    when i try to download a file and send it to a specific save location such as a flash drive or one of my hard drives. the file downloads, when its complete a transfer window opens showing that the file is transfering to the location i designated when complete the window closes. when i go to open the file it isnt there. if search for the file all i find is a link listed in recent items that is not valid.

    That defies logic.
    Maybe->Control Panel->Folder Options->View tab->there are three options to hide files. Disable all three and see if the files show up.

    I am having the same problem with my pc. All my downloads disappear. Chose a different destination. same thing. done a search of hidden files and folders. including temp. internet files. nada. firefox downloads but will not open a file. it says that setup.exe is not a valid win32 application. tried opera. download still disappears. ran virus scans. cleaned. pc. will not let me open or remove norton. and disabled defender. someone help please.
