Hey, basically i cannot load up IE on my pc. (using laptop to write this) When I click IE, the page sits there as if it is going to load up and then just closes itself with no warning or error message. My network and internet connections are all working, they both say connected. i have tried all the troubleshooting guides, but with no luck! ect ect, and checked that any firewalls weren't blocking it.
Also on 'control panel' the 'internet options' icon is no longer there so i can't get into any of that! No idea why??!!
Please note that i can't download anything on the pc with the problem!
    I am using XP sp3 (i think!) and IE7
    Any help would be wonderful!
    thanks, Rob

    Rob,
It sounds like you might have some sort of malware on your system. I have run into this type of behavior before where the malware is stopping you from accessing the internet to lookup cures for it. Do you have any sort of popups happening on your system?

Hi bob1 and amdace, Welcome to Windowsbbs! :)

    Rob, try this:

Click Start< All Programs< Accessories< System Tools< Internet Eplorer (No-Addons). Does IE startup properly now?

If that doesn't work then click Start< Control Panel< Network and Internet Connections< Internet Options< Advanced tab< Reset Button.

If you can't get into Internet Options from the Control Panel then click Start< Run and type inetcpl.cpl and press enter.

BTW Rob and amdace please fill out your System Details which will help us in answering your questions.
