    Welcome to WindowsBBS :)

We encourage all members to complete their System Specifications which help us to help you :)

Then we would know how much memory you have - 512 Mb the workable minimum - 1 Gb gives much improved performance.

How many processes are running as shown in Task Manager?

The best way of controlling the no. of processes running is to control your Startups - you will probably find that there are a number which are not necessary and are eating up RAM.

Download Starter and disable those processes which are not necessary - if you need guidance post a list of the Startups that Starter shows.

Hi peach680. Welcome to Windowsbbs! :)

In addition to what Pete suggested you can try disabling Windows Services that you don't use by following Black Vipers Services Guide.

By disabling Windows Services that you don't need you can free up your system resources and have less system processes running in the background.

Be careful following Black Viper's advice. Shutting off a service he says is unnecessary could cause a program you use to quit functioning.

Yea, I'm also totally against this, specially for novice users who won't remember what they did...
