Hi, I am kind of a network dummy I guess you could say. Running XP Home.....

I bought a Intellinet Wireless 802.11N router, so we could have a laptop for my wife to use for college classes. I hooked it up, and was able to connect through our desktop to the internet(we have windstream DSL). I am thinking while I was into the settings on IE http://192.168.2.1, that I messed up a setting somewhere and cannot find what I did. After WAY too much 'playing' around hoping I could find where I made a mistake, I have no idea where to even look.

I have reset the router, reset modem, rebooted computer, all a bunch of times. It says in manual that resetting router via the button on the back does not change the settings that I have made.

Is there a way to start from scratch with the 192.168.2.1 settings? I guess I am meaning is there someway to make the computer like it had never seen the router?

Thanks, and if I need to give more information, let me know.

    Mark

When you do a 'hard reset' via the button on the back of the router, it will revert to the default settings for the router.

    From your manual:
You don't say what the problem is you are trying to solve though...

    Thank you for your reply.

The problem is, when the router is connected, I am unable to connect to the internet at all. The more I think about it, I may have a bad network cable from the modem to the router. I am going to try another one, and I will let you know my results.

I did do the hard reset via the button on the back of the router. It stated in the manual that it would not change my setting that I had made. That is where I got that information, but I may have misread it.

    Thanks, Mark

OK, let us know.... if you can't connect, we'll need the following info:

Run this at a command prompt:
    Code:
    ipconfig /all > ipconfig.txt
and post the contents of the file ipconfig.txt

Please enter your System Details. It helps us in answering your questions!

Well, I figured it out, at least it is connecting now.

I tried another network cable, still no connection. So I plugged my cable from computer to the #2 LAN port to see what happened. It is now working fine.

I want to play around with it some more, but this leads me to believe something is wrong with the #1 LAN port on the router and will need to exchange it for another.

Thanks for the help!! Mark :)
