I use ZTE EV-DO software internet connection(BSNL supplies ZTE AC8700 modem for EVDO users) and suddenly this morning I received a dialog box which says...
"UI for EVDO card has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry
for the inconvenience "

and after this the ZTE EV-DO icon disappeared from the notification area of the task bar.

what the error is all about?Does this show any hardware problem?

any help would be appreciable.

Hello, Hemant. Welcome to Windows BBS! :)

First, please enter your System Details. (Please click on that link and do the best you can.) Those details may help us answer your questions.

Does the problem occur often or just once in awhile?

Have you tried restarting your computer to see if you can get the icon and functionality back?

Have you made any hardware and/or software changes to your computer immediately before the problem appeared?

Do you know what the official website of the cellular modem manufacturer is? (Please check the modem's manual for a web site address.)

==========

Perhaps Event Viewer will shed some more light on your particular issue. If you paste the contents of relevant Event Viewer events, then we might be able to find a solution more quickly.

Instructions About How to Access and Use "Event Viewer ":

1. Click Start.
2. Right-click My Computer.
3. Select "Manage" to open the "Computer Management" window.
(Event Viewer will be displayed under the "System Tools" directory item.)
4. Expand "Event Viewer" and then select "Application ", "Security ", and "System" to view the logs.
5. Look for "error" events that occurred around the time your problem occurred.
• These events will be displayed as icons with either a white X on red background or a black exclamation point on yellow background.
• In the security section of Event Viewer, events of possible concern are ones that display a padlock icon instead of a key icon.
6. Double-click on an individual event to open the "Event Properties" window which shows details about the event.
• You can use the up/down arrow buttons in the "Event Properties" window to move your focus to other events in the list.
• Use the button below the up/down arrows to copy the details for an event to your clipboard for pasting elsewhere (into a forum message, for example).
• Click on the "http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp" link in the "Event Properties" window to view more information from Microsoft about the event.

Alternatively, Event Viewer may be accessed as follows.
• Click Start > Run...
• Type eventvwr.msc in the "Open:" field.
• Click the OK button.

I've forgotten the time when I had received such errors.

Also in
'Application' ,'System' options under 'Event Viewer' there are so many errors that I'm not able to find exact error's event. Is there any way (other than time and date)to identify the error with the name of the software.

i've one more thing to share i.e though i've forgotten the time of above mentioned error but there was some other problem which had occurred this morning (which I think resembles the first one) .It happened like this when I was switching off my computer from Start->Turn off Computer I received this error...
"Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
if you were in the middle of something, the information you were working on the might be lost." .After this I went to ..

for the event of the error(not like earlier I had an eye on my watch)
and I found such information on the 'Application ' option under 'Event Viewer' ....

I'm finding difficult to fill up the required information over here "http://www.windowsbbs.com/profile.php?do=extra" .Also the software provided
(To obtain details of your system we suggest you download and install System Information for Windows (SIW) ) by you guys over here "http://www.windowsbbs.com/adding_system_specifications.html "

its file is corrupted .so how to post the required system information here
"http://www.windowsbbs.com/profile.php?do=extra" .
I've saved the system information using DxDiag command if ask then I can post it to you.

Problem occurs sometimes not often say sometimes twice a day and sometimes not even once for a week.

After restart everything works noramal again i.e icon gets back and things work smooth.

Thank you very much, Hemant. :)

You did a good job providing your System Specifications considering the difficulties you had with SIW. The information you provided helped me gather information about your computer and mobile communications service (I think).

Unfortunately, I'm afraid you will just have to wait until the modem icon/functionality problem occurs again. Then look at your watch and write down the date, time, and a description of what you were doing at the time the problem occurred. Then you can go into Event Veiwer and copy/paste the error information into a forum message and/or Notepad to build a log of the errors.

Errors like yours (that happen with no apparent pattern) are often tricky to solve. Therefore, we need to gather as much information as we can when the error occurs. If you keep careful records and provide them to us, then we might discover a pattern that will help us find a solution.

Also unfortunately, the explorer.exe information you provided does not give us much to work from (yet). However, that information might prove useful later. Thank you for describing what you were doing and pasting the details of the error.

=================

I did some Google digging and found the following links that I think apply to your computer hardware and mobile communications service. I am providing them here for your benefit and for anyone else who might jump into this conversation and offer assistance.

According to the information I gathered above, I assume you are located in India. ;)

Please look through the information I linked to help us verify the information I provided is correct about your hardware and mobile service provider.

Is the information I linked above correct for your computer hardware and mobile communications service?

I am still looking for an official manufacturer's support web site for your ZTE AC8700 modem. Does your ZTE modem's manual provide a support web site address? If yes, then please let us know what it is.

EDIT:
I do not know yet. :( However, I am looking. :) Isn't problem-solving fun? ;) I know, it is more fun trying to solve someone else's problem in a forum than trying to solve one's own problem.

By the way,
I suspect "UI" means "user interface ".

That error seems to suggest a possible incompatibility between your ZTE UI program (evdo.exe) and the Windows file ntdll.dll. If your Windows is up to date with all security patches, then perhaps you should look at updating or reinstalling your ZTE modem software.

I tried to connect to WWW.ZTEiT.com.cn a few times and, each time, I could not connect. Perhaps you will have better luck. If you do, then perhaps you can locate a newer version of your modem software to download and try.

EDIT: I looked around the BSNL site a little and I did not see any modem software downloads available there.
