Adding System Details to Profile

If you added a simple way to do this I would gladly add the details but your current set up requires too much manual work.
I have Everest Ultimate Edition which can show all System info after one click but it is too much to copy for your purposes.
How about a link to a profile file or upload?

 

Multiple Computers: System Specs in Profile

Hi, Arie.

I debated whether to post this in a new thread or not. I decided to post here so onclejean/Onclejon might read the next paragraph and be more accepting of the "feature ".

As a helper, I really like having the user's System Specs information at my fingertips without having to repeatedly scroll through the thread (and sometimes hunt through the paragraphs of individual posts) to find certain system specs. This becomes especially time-consuming for more difficult problems that require several posts in a thread. From a helper's point of view, the System Specifications plug-in is a GREAT idea.

However, down the road, I foresee problems I think should be proactively addressed...

• 1. Perhaps you could/should bug the developer of the System Details plug-in for vBulletin to allow people to enter details for two (or even three) computers.
  
  I anticipate someone might (probably will) seek help for a computer problem and forget to mention the computer they're having issues with is not the one described in their profile. This might cause helpers to offer suggestions that are inappropriate for the problematic computer.
  
  If the person's profile contains specs for multiple computers, the helpers can quickly determine that and at least ask, "Which computer? "

Another similar issue to think about...

• 2. How will we address the inevitable hardware upgrades that occur and reminding people to update their profile's System Specifications?

BTW... Yes, I have entered my System Specs in my profile. I just chose to hide them until the need to display them arises.

That poses yet another potential problem.

• 3. Suppose someone enables the System Specifications display (for seeking help), gets their issue resolved, and then later disables the System Specs display (i.e., for privacy purposes). Later on, people with the same/similar problem looking for a solution who discover the thread will be "in the dark" regarding what hardware/OS/internet connection type the helpful suggestions apply to.
  
  
  As the software is now, I guess I'll either post my system specs details in the first post when I seek help or I'll decide to leave my System Specifications display on for eternity afterwards (and sacrifice a little privacy for the benefit of the online community at large).
  
  Ideally, it would be nice to enable the System Specs display on a "per thread" basis rather than globally. However, I realize this might require a lot more programming/scripting/effort and might not seem worthwhile to implement.

EDIT: I had a fleeting thought so I posted an "edit ". Then I realized it wasn't as easy of a solution as I initially thought. Therefore, that "edit" is now deleted.

I agree with Mailman's comment. I did post system details but of course they quickly get out of date.
Would it be possible to update the profile quickly by a link to the members system informationin computer properties?
