My husband's laptop runs Vista Home SP1. He reports the following problems:

Malwarebytes won't install updates. He gets an error 732 (0,0). The program was working and was last updated on June 27. I checked the support forum and the only thing I found was a list of all the errors and at the bottom of said list it stated:
Solution: Download and install: Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0 Common Controls

Superantispyware won't install updates nor can I install the latest program update. Here I get "error trying to retrieve definitions. Check firewall is not blocking SuperAntiSpyware.exe from accessing Internet. "

SuperAntispyware is listed in the exceptions in the Firewall. And besides the program last updated on June 27 as well.

Clueless as to why these two programs should both stop working at the same time. Any solutions that are not as drastic as installing something that I don't know anything about?

    TIA.

Hi - The laptop was pronounced clean over at the Malware and Virus Removal forum.
However, aafter installing July updates, upon attempting to update SuperAntispyware and Malwarebytes, I once again got the errors. Next day there was no problem. Do you think there is some relation between the error messages and the updates? I'll be watching it more closely from now on.

    broni,

update: Yesterday I installed two new updates for Vista and after this, tried to update SuperAntispyware and Malwarebytes. Both gave errors. Today, I was able to update.
This is driving me crazy because I don't know what is happening.

    I'm not sure, either.
    Keep reporting on progress.

    broni,

This time I waited a couple of days after installing Windows updates, before I tried to update Malwarebytes and SuperantiSpyware. No problems encountered.
I will continue to do it this way and hope I avoid the annoying errors.
