Thanks Christer for responding. Tell me, with what you know, if this sounds right, I did the original back up, I copied C to E. When I open E, there are file folders in it. Does this sound like I've done it corredtly?

I use Ghost 2003 which only creates images from DOS and Windows is not running. The image is a set of files with extensions *.gho and *.ghs and you need a certain tool (Ghost Explorer) to explore the image to see the contents.

I know too little about Ghost 14 to give any advice whatsoever, other than heading over to RADIFIED.

    Christer,

Thought I give you a follow up on my Ghost experience. Finally got a little help in another forum but nothing was going to help me, my hard drive was blank. I had not done the backup correctly and lost the contents of my computer. I was angry with Ghost, until I realized. this was caused by my inexperience, If anyone is reading this and wants to use Norton's Ghost, people who have used it love it, make sure you get familiar enough with it at a time when your backups aren't important, then you'll be ready for the important day.
    Very painful lesson for me.

    Dee,
    thanks for the follow up.

Too bad you "lost your computer" ... :( ... but you're not the first and probably not the last. Imaging software should be fully understood prior to "actual usage" and images should be tested/verified. In Ghost 2003, there's a specific function to do that, I don't know about more recent versions.

Personally I create a new image on a monthly basis and I keep them for at least six months. That should take care of most of the proverbial "you know what" hitting the fan.

This version does not have a lot of the features that I read about while reseaching a fix for my issue. My main point in my post was hoping someone would read it and not make the same mistake I did. I work at home, lost data for over 200 accounts and this is not recoverable on either end, very costly.

Thanks Michael for the info, I'm sure it will come in handy when I get up the nerve to try Ghost. again. I'm still looking for my manual, I would feel better if I had it. I will use Ghost again.
