    Hello everyone,

I'm new here and I have a serious problem. I downloaded the new update for firefox, and now none of my browsers(IE, Firefox, Opera) will connect to the internet. I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling. I have deleted just about all apps from my computer that was of no inportance. My (msn)messenger still works and allows me to I.M. but that is about it. I really don't know to much about computers and I would really appreciate some help. :)

Hi and welcome to the BBS,

Please put your system information in your profile
WindowsBBS Support Forum - Adding System Specifications to your Profile
so we can see details like your internet connection type.

You will need to investigate if you have a third party firewall or if the system only uses Windows Firewall. See if the antivirus also includes a firewall (a security suite). What you need to check is that only one firewall is running.

If two firewalls are running and I suppose one is Windows Firewall, disable Windows Firewall (Control Panel -> Windows Firewall).

Look in the firewall program for what programs are allowed to access the internet. Set your browsers to "Allow ".

In the Firewall settings you will see "Port Settings ". Your browsers will use Port 80 for connection to the internet. I don't have Messenger, but I suspect it uses a different port. You will need to make sure Port 80 is open.

You may need to do some research (that will also improve your experience level). The help menu in your firewall program is the place to start.

    Matt
