    Hello,

I'm running a laptop with Vista SP1, and the other day it started acting funny. It's extremely sluggish, as I type now I have to wait every other sentence as firefox freezes and I can't type. Happening elsewhere too, right clicking on a desktop icon can lock it up for a full minute.

I don't know where to start, I'm decent with XP but brand new to Vista, please help as I use this laptop to try and make a living!

    Thanks in advance.

if you could post a dds log file so people could see what applications you have installed it would help a lot because there are many reasons for a computer to act "sluggish ".

Try booting into Safe Mode and see how it works there. If it is normal there, then the problem could be a driver or background program. You can disable background programs in msconfig -> Startup tab. Find drivers updates at the laptop manufacturer's website.

If it is slow in Safe Mode, I would run CHKDSK. Search in Help and Support for "Check the hard disk for errors ".

If you can identify when it started, think about doing a System Restore to before that date.
