After getting my computer back from HP I had some problems and had to do a system recovery (back to the day I bought it:( ). After restoring my backup I now get a new folder in Microsoft Mail every time I open it "Recovered Messages ". The folder is empty.

    How do I stop it?

You will need to backup all your Windows Mail "stuff ":

Accounts, E-mail settings and E-mail messages.

What you'll have to do is basically "reset" Windows Mail to a clean state:

    • Close Windows Mail if open.
    • Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc keys together to open Task manager.
    • Click on the Processes tab.
    • Click on WinMail.exe to highlight it and click End Process button. If WinMail.exe isn't running you are fine. Proceed to the next step.
    • Open regedit (type regedit in Vista's Start Search box & press [Enter]. In regedit, go to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows Mail
    • In the left pane, right click on Windows Mail and click on Delete.
    • Open a command prompt (type cmd in Vista's Start Search box & press [Enter]) and type the following: cd %UserProfile%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Mail
    • next type del *.* and acknowledge you want to delete all contents (do not delete the Windows Mail folder itself!)
    • Restart the computer
    • When Vista is done restarting, open Windows Mail and then close Windows Mail again once it is finished opening.

You're now set with a "fresh" Windows Mail & would have to re-enter or restore your Accounts, E-mail settings and E-mail messages.

Let me know if you need assistance with those too.
