    Hi all,

I'm running a Lenovo (brand new) as a spare, and, considering the absurd price, the system is sweet. Only one thing is driving me crazy - when I shut down the power light goes off at the end of the shutdown sequence for half a second, comes back on, and then the system reboots. I've tried unchecking the automatic restart in startup and recovery, booting into safe mode, running check disc and repair, and considering some alternative religious ceremonies, but I'm not having any luck. I have to hard close from windows, or just before the beast boots back up, and I'm sure this is not doing it any good.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Cheers

    Hi Ghostwriter,

Read this MS Knowledgebase and let us know how you get on.

In the mean time, shutting down "just before the beast boots back up" won't do any harm but try and avoid hard closing from windows ;)

    EDIT:

If the above doesn't help please follow these instructions courtesy of PeteC

    G'day Wildfire,

Mmmmm, went to that one a while back. It gave me the hint on unchecking the auto restart box in system properties. It's still not happy, but thanks for the shut down advice. I'll keep knocking the power off as it begins to power up for the time being.

    Cheers

I almost missed it. I tried removing all the peripherals and found the problem - the USB wireless adapter is the culprit. For the time being I'm disconnecting it before closing, until I find how to edit the software.

Many thanks for your help Wildfire.

I'm happy you've found a workaround, only other thing I can suggest is looking for an updated driver for that wifi adapter.

Let us know how you get on.
