Can anyone give me some links to some FREE, challenging, and effective A+ Tests. I've got a few, but I want to make sure I get as many different questions as I can. Any help would be great.

    Tanx,

    Works fine here Chas.

What does a DNS lookup give you?

Start->Run type "cmd" in the open combo...

Now in the DOS screen type

    Code:
    nslookup freepractice.com
And press enter, post any lines starting with Address:

BTW DNS is Domain Name Server, a DNS lookup gives you the IP address for a domain name.

    This is what I got...
    Can't find freepractice.com: Non-existent domain

That's pretty cool Wildfire. Never heard of this before.
Hey maybe you can make a suggestion.
When I find new info like this I don't know where to put it on my computer so I can retrieve it later. Not very organised in this way.
    Thx bud!

I'd suggest using OpenDNS but it means messing with your network settings so we'll leave that for the moment (this site may have changed IP address and DNS is propogating). If you're still having issues in a couple of days we'll have a look and see what can be done.

As far as storing info Chas I'm in the same boat, most of what I post here is in my head (which is starting to leak ;)) or on google. I have recently started making a text file for common answers but that'll probably grow into a database very shortly.

Start with a text file on your desktop, if it becomes unmanagable we can look at other options.

I've been trying to find the flash drive I stored them on. It's not in the system I thought I left it plugged into.

Found it. It was still sitting with last semester's pile of books that hadn't been touched since before Christmas.

    SITE I: http://www.freepractice.com/Aplus/aplus.htm
Simple site, simple interface and immediate feedback on the answers you give, but only in a yes/no format. It doesn’t have the detailed “why” that TestOut does, for example.

    SITE II: http://www.passitnow.com/comptia.html
Here are multiple A+ exams and immediate feedback on your answers. Still no “why,” but the large number of practice exams gives a good, broad base of questions.

    SITE III: http://www.techbomb.com/aplus/
Log in as guest and you can get 5 questions that you run through like the actual exam – you don’t see answers till you get to the end. But the end of exam stat sheet offers the “why” not seen in other online practices. The interface is also easy to understand and more thorough than others at explaining just what you’re practice testing.

    SITE IV: http://www.proprofs.com/certification/comptia/a-plus/index.shtml
Nice site, but you have to click through a number of links to avoid signing up (if you don’t want to sign up), but offers a timed practice test with no immediate feedback till the end of the test. It, perhaps, offers the sense of pressure some other practices don’t.

    SITE V: http://www.free-tests.com/comptia.shtml]http://www.free-tests.com/comptia.shtml
Multiple CompTIA exams in one site with rotating pools of questions, including study guides to the exams. Options to see your score at the end or after every question are a nice bonus, along with the ability to see the right answer at the end (doesn’t include the “why” though). A very clean test interface and the site has only a few text ads, a big bonus. My only complaint is that the “match” questions require a drag-and-drop approach that’s not apparent in the instructions, instead of clicking at pairs to match.
