    System: Vista 64bit, sp1.

How do i uninstall (or remove from) a program from "control
panel>programs and features" when that program is not on
    the HD?

Is there a Vista Tweak program like was available for XP?

    thank you,
    savagcl

Go to the Windows Orb (Start), type regedit, press Enter and navigate to registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion.

Expand the Uninstall key in the left pane and scroll down to find the unwanted entry then right-click and delete it.

To make sure you delete the correct entry, check the name in the right pane. DisplayName is the name that is listed in Programs and Features and UninstallString is the program that is normally used to uninstall the program.

If the program has already been uninstalled, and if you are just trying to delete an entry from the list of installed programs you can use CCleaner to remove the entry or you can use the HiJackThis miscellaneous toos section to delete the entry.

Ha! Been using ccleaner for years and never used the
    "issues" button before.....

It found lots of other stuff that needed fixing also.

    Thanks folks,

I'm curious why you'd want to do this. What do you hope to gain?

The ol saying: "If it ain't broke" comes to mind;)

    Hi Steve,

Aside from the program not being on the HD but showing
in the control panel - guess you could call it "No Loose ends ",
"Zero Defects" or just my military training, you know:
"A place for everything and everything in its place ".

Other than that, since i know it will happen again, knowing
how to do it for future reference helps.

    Just a bit of knowledge,

    thanks,
    savagcl
