I'm running Windows XP and after removing a virus called AntiSpywareXP2009 from my laptop using Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware 1.30, I can not get my laptop to connect over wireless or ethernet to the internet.

When I try to do a ipcofig /renew I get a message that I am unable to contact my DHCP server and request times out.

Does anybody have any suggestions on how I can fix this? I am also also connecting via a Linksys router to a cable modem to access the internet.

Any help would be greatly appeciated.

Hi and welcome to the BBS,

First off, connect the computer directly to the modem with an ethernet cable.

You may need to use the command /release before /renew (I prefer to reboot the computer).

Try disabling the firewall while you connect.

I will move this to networking.
