Hi everybody, new to the site.

I have just tried to recover my computer as I like to do so every 8 months or so but this time It would not let me do so due to the following problem.

I put the recovery disc in and boot up from Cd as normal, however, after a minute or so I get a message saying the following....Unable to continue, can't find file 1386system32\ntkrnlmp.exe
This is followed by a message underneath saying "error code 32768 "

Can anybody who has experienced any similar problems or has any knowhow on getting this sorted please post on here with details.

    Thanks in advance.

    Welcome to WindowsBBS;)

A dirty cd and or cd drive can cause this...If you have some canned air, try blowing the dust out of the drive.

Not sure why you "recover...every 8 months or so ", but to each his own. You may have a corrupt file try running sfc /scannow. click start > run type "sfc /scannow" without quotes and note the space between "sfc "and "/scannow ". You will need to have the CD in the drive just in case XP needs it.

Steve, sorry, I was thinking and typing while you were replying.

    MOFFS, follow Steve's advice first.
