Hi New to this Computer Lark

Hi All,
As you read this, you'll see that I'm new to using a PC, & you wont have a clue how long its going to take to type it, so it looks OK. I'm a 42yr old Disabled ex Royal Navy chap, & was a Pro Chef all my life, but I now Hate the Kitchen!!.
So for the last 16 month, I've been trying to figure out this Computer Lark, & have come up against some problems, as you will read in a mo. This PC that I've got is an Old Battered PC, that belonged to a Neighbour, (Lack of £££), & i have a fear of being disconnected from the Internet, as phone bill, + trying to change from BT (BAD EXPERIANCE) + Talk Talk wont entertain a PC that is this old, so I'm havin a rough time.
What i need some help with, apart from the above!! is because I keep getting "Repair Messages, like....hpfsched files, MMSYSTEM281, DLL'unicows.dll, removeWIN.INI File, etc ". Plus It tells me to "Repair Internal Applications, SHELL.32.DLL:sh" all this could be written in "Spanish/French/ Icelandic,etc" for all I know, it means nothing to me, so SOMEONE Please, HELP ME OUT.

Look forward to some KIND soul having a look for me, & Please dont send me any "Free Downloads, as it leads to ££ or $$ to pay, that I don't have. "

Hello Kashmir4. Don't bet against freeware. There is lots out here that is really good and FREE,FREE,FREE.( Get the point.) Not 1 pence will you be out. AntiVirus,AntiSpyware,utilities,diagnostic programs,office programs,etc. You get the idea. And did I mention that they are FREE.
