I'm not sure where to begin and I don't wish to offend the Administrator and I don't know if Im in right pew (other software) but heres a problem In having that is driving me nuts and I don't have the experience to see my way through it,so I'll try to explain it Clearly first I'm running Windows PX home and yes it has SP3 on it (never let Microsoft auto down load any thing with out you being there to let it proceed -- -never again !) any way I have it on a new computer an AMD 6400 dual core 2 large hardrive divided by 4 part-ions 2Gigs of ram on an ASUS M2N-VM DVI motherboard. Over all I'm happy with it so far but I'm still working my way through it .With that said let me get to my problem. . .and its driving me nuts. . .I have down loaded a game that I had on my old computer which I down loaded the new edition of on this machine its Called "Jardinains 2" it a brick breaking type game that my Grand children dearly love BUT The problem is when the "Ball" is moved it doesnt move at a constant speed that it normally should. it will hang, speed up, drag down, and do every thing it should'nt do. Ive unistalled and installed it from its Web page 4 times still does the same thing. .Ive checked all the Drivers and there up to date so is the Video card Ive closed done all windows programs I could including the firewall and Virus checker Ive closed all program period. and it still does it by now I have tunnel vision and don't know what else I should try.
Id hate to take the game off because the grand kid would give me fits to me the game is not important but the "why" it doesn't work properly is and I won't be satisfied till I have solved the problem. .Why does the "Ball" in the program drag, slow down almost to a stop when it should be smooth and move at a constant speed it is suppose to work either in Direct X ( which I have up dated) or something call "DL" Ive tryed every thing I can think of so now I bring it to the forum and maybe some one else may have an ensure as to how to correct the problem So I thank you in advance and post this now.

Are there settings or options for setting graphics speed or to control ball speed in this game. or maybe graphics quality. Start by setting at lowest possible setting. does the ball have a selection for trails or anyting like that? - turn them off and see what happens. If it works fine with minimal settings, you can start to increase things until you find what is actually bogging it down.

I have never heard of this game, but if it is popular enough it may have a forum on the publishers website - maybe someone else has had similar issues.

Many moons ago my daugter had a game she loved that had lots of moving "parts" and a little doohicky she had to move around the screen to collect them. But it didn't play the same when we bought a newer computer; after I took out some of the bells and whistles it seemed to play satisfactorily. Never really understood why - she was still having fun with it so I didn't bother to worry about it after that.

Scrapiron, I was talking about in the game itself. Is there a menu item for options or tools or settings where you can navigate through the menus to find graphics setting for the game?

Well, since I don't know anything about the game I don't think I can be much more help. I suppose I could download it and try it out and see if i can find some tweaks. I checked out the game's web site and forum but there isn't a lot of activity there. I didn't see a "system requirements" list on the web site.

The only other thing I can suggest is to have someone you know is computer savy to help you change your display to a lower resolution (i.e. 640x480 at 256 colors) to see if that has any effect.

From your description, your computer is more than adequate for this game but the game may not be able to run at the higher resolution.

Hopefully someone is watching this conversation and will jump in with some more suggestions. I don't play games on my computer but those who do may have had similar experiences with other games.

At any rate, I am sure it will get worked out. It just takes patience and a lot of troubleshooting. I am sure it will get resolved.

You also mentioned you had a problem with the SP3 auto update. did you get the problem fixed? If not, you may want to post information about the problem in the Windows XP forum someone there can help you resolve it.

Wish I could have been more help.

    In reply

Well thank you for your reply yes I'll keep at it, to me at this point the "why" of is more important then the game cept the gran kids will disappointed. . Oh About SP3 that gave me the shook of my life really - - -I Had (noticed I said had) Microsoft updates toggled to down load automatically. . .. and one evening I was in the den watching the telly and I looked over at my desk top and I saw Microsoft doing its thing but I didn't get up and check it ( Iknow Iknow) but then when I did nothing seemed out of sorts and I was looking at some mail and clearing my spam filters and ready to shut down the down load was SP3 and then up popped a message saying the download did not install properly (?) and my computer was being shut done - - - -and would not re-boot windows XP when it was restarted ! ! ! - - --And it didn't ! any way I was angry but not to concerned as the computer was going in the Shop the next day and being scrapped as I was having a new one built. .I was saving my harddrives to install and some other things, , ,So I told my prov eyer what had happened and she said "not a problem" I'll "layer" your windows program over the old one and use your product number. . .I was thrilled to death till I got the new one home Oh I had a AMD dual core 6400 with a "cooler "on top of the Chip my 2 large hard drives 2 gigs of ram proud of this new puppy right - - - -Wrong ! Oh windows booted up all right But all the "folders, files, and stuff I had on C:/ was gone one the wind oh it was still there and I could look at all the nice icons and Folders, nothing in them - - -I was boiling mad I called my purveyor on the phone and told her my plight
" she said bring your old C:\ down (which was good I just got a bigger one,and I'll slave them together Know I don't know how she did it but she did and I got most of it back, then I Got a program that when I used it recalled more files dll and such, ,so when it all was finished I think I broke even. . . Now lessons Learned: Never never leave Microsoft auto updates run unless you the user knows what it is and what it will Do. . .Never trust Microsoft. .
and no I don't trust Vista either LOL
