Hi i am continually getting Data Execution Prevention messages followed by a Dr Watson Postmorten Debugger report. My computer then freezes . There are error signatures and two items in an error report . How do i fix this problem , whatever is causing it ? . Do i need to re-install windows or can someone direct me to someone who can advise me on what to do . Frustrated , thanks Blocka

We'll need more info. The error messages you receive etc. Any info in Event Viewer? To open Event Viewer, go to Start > Run and type eventvwr.msc, click OK.

Check your Application and System logs for errors.

You can double click on any error for more details, and there is also a button to copy the error to your clipboard for easy copying & pasting.

Hi , thanks for your interest in my problem. I have viewed the info provided by drwatson .The error sig. from DR Watson shows event type -BEX plus info listed from P1 to P9. Do u need any of this info ? The technical info is as follows -C:\DOCUMENT~1\Trevor\LOCALS~1\Temp\werd53c:dir00\drwtsn32.exe.mdmp plus a similar line to the above but with the ending - dir00\appcompat.txt . The technical info for the DPE are very similar to those of drwatson , although the error signatures are different. The event viewer didnt show any drwatson errors that i could see but under application there were warnings eg failure audit MSSQL$SQLEXPRESS , yellow tiangle warning SQL Browser and others . Under system there was a Dhcp - ip address for network card error . When going to start/run and typing drwtsn32.exe or drwatson i got windows for both with no events listed which is a bit strange as i have had this frozen screen/bug for a while now . Hope this all makes sense. Gladly supply any more info u may need .Keenly awaiting your reply . Blocka.

Makes me wonder if you have a virus/malware on the PC.

Read this post, then post the requested log(s) in the Malware and Virus Removal forum.

Hi Arie , read your article on Troubleshooting Windows Explorer Errors . Downloaded ShelExView. and looks like i found the offending piece of software . It was FreeDownloadManager causing the DEP and DRWatson Errors . Have deleted and all appears ok . Thanks for your advice.
However i have another problem now , dont think its related but might be . I have about 4 or 5 icons on the desk top that when i click on them the screen just freezes , no messages come up . Cant do anything but re-boot . There is no problem with all the other icons they proceed as normal . One is VLC media player , i deleted it and downloaded it again but made no difference ie still freezes . Any ideas ? Blocka

Not really. You'll have to check in Event viewer & see if there are any related errors listed.
