Office 2003 Word as email editor under Vista subject

Trying to edit existing signatures using Word. Tools, Options, General, Email options.

I click on a signature, and change the font size, click OK, click OK again.

Then go to Outlook, new email, change signature by right clicking and the change does not show up.

Close Outlook and do the same as above and change still does not show up.

Signatures were brought over from XP and I was told before that this was supposed to work. But editing is not working.

Is this a Vista problem ?

Edit your email signatures from within Outlook

I have done that and it still does not work, could it be an incompatibility with Vista and Outlook 2003 ?

There are none of which I am aware.

Is it possible you've lost full permission to the signatures?

Are these some of the copied signatures from your other thread?

Have you trired jsut copy and pasting one signature into a new one and then setting the new one as the default for that account?

If you save one, then you should be able to go to that directory and confimr updated file time stamps.

Is it possible you've gotten mixed up on which signature you're editing and which signature you're using?

How could I lose permission to use the signatures? I created the signatures myself.

What other thread? What time stamps? What accounts? How could I get mixed up about editing a signature?

This issue is signatures in Outlook using MS Word as editor. Just because I have to use Vista should not change the ability to edit signatures that were created by the same Outlook program used under XP.

Vista has a VERY complex file permission structure. I have seen numerous issues created on certain OEM installations where users with Admin privileges have actually lost full file/registry permissions. It is not clear at this time, how this happens, but I have only seen it on HP/Dell/Sony OEM versions of the Vista OS.

    http://www.windowsbbs.com/other-sof...ture-option-under-insert-auto-text-email.html

Every time you save a file, it gets a time stamp indicating the time it was last saved.

I assumed since you have so many signatures, that you have multiple email accounts to which they are applied.

If the names of the signatures are similar, or the accounts are similar, or the signatures are similar. It would not be the first time confusion existed about editing files and seeing the saved results.

Again, I do not suggest you use Word to edit your signatures directly. This could easily result in confusion as to what you are editing and actually seeing the results in Outlook.

I have seen loss of full admin permission happen on many different OEM installs. x64 Versions carry extra considerations as well. For example, there was a bug (I think it has been resolved with an update) where the x64 shell could not step down to the 32 bit MAPI and call the Outlook default client for performing a "Send To > Mail recipient..." Even though Outlook was set to the default client, Windows Mail would be called instead. That is just an example.
Unless you have specific need of the x64 platform, or have an "advernturous spirit ", I would not suggest using it.

Did you check the time stamps of the signatures you edited?

We have seen numerous customers try to do the same thing. Keeping entire messages in their signatures. It frequently results in problems. For example, Spell checker does not read in signature sections.
Rather, I would suggest keeping Drafts in the "Drafts" folder and title the subjects appropriately.
When you have need to use one, pull a copy of it and then change the subject, add the desired content in the body and send it.
