Dell desktop with CD-R/W drive. I bought CD-R disks to store photos and/or give as gifts. I have Sonic Record Now software. The program tells me the disk has burned successfully but no disk space is used. However, when I use CD-R/W disks I can burn disks successfully.

If I'm understanding my research correctly, a CD-R/W drive can be used to burn CD/R disks that could then be read by a CD-ROM drive. Yes or No?

Not sure if I have a hardware, software or disk problem - or faulty thinking!
    Any help would be appreciated.

If you are just putting photos on the CD, you can try just "sending" them to the cd to see if they will burn directly to the cd from (I am assuming you have) XP.

Broni asks a good question - my daughter was having a similar problem using ezburn - I paid for Nero just to make life easy for her:)

    Thanks for answers

    Sorry for delay in responding.

    1) Yes I closed the session
    2) Cannot write directly to disk using XP wizard - same result
    3) Haven't tried any free burning software. Will explore that avenue.

RecordNow works fine on purchased Memorex CD/RW disk. Haven't tried any Memorex CD/Rs

I also checked for driver update on my CD/RW hardware and it is current. Additional research indicates that quality of disk may be a factor, i.e. advances in disk technology are not being recognized by my hardware.

Again thanks for your help. Any other suggestions?
