I've been running Norton AV 2006 with no problems. My subscription is up soon and I'm wondering if I'd be better off installing an AVG product or going with Norton AV 2008. I also run Zone Alarm Pro which takes care of spyware and hackers so need only an antivirus program.

I've read of some problems with Norton AV 2008. Please advise what you think is the best product.

I recently removed Norton and switched to AVG and have been much happier.

    Hi ROBLS99
Am just curious. You said you removed NAV and went with AVG. May I ask why you are happier with AVG. Faster, less space ? Also did you have any problems removing NAV ?
    Tks, Budo

I belong to another forum where, FOR YEARS, people have complained about NAV gumming up their registry and causing problems with other programs. When I started having lock-ups and other spurious problems I decided to finally remove NAV and added the one AV that everyone agreed did not clog the registry - AVG and almost all of my problems disappeared!

A year or so ago I learned about the Norton Removal Tool which cleared out the registry after removal and have been happy ever since.
