Hi all, I have a dual-boot system with XP and Vista Ultimate. Ultimate comes with the Media Center, which looks impressive. However, when trying to play back DVD's or any other video's (.avi's, etc.), it does not give me enough volume, even when set to maximum. Is there a version of Real Player (I use this on XP) for Vista? Roaming through real's website doesn't seem to get me any information about a version of it compatible with Vista? Is there a third-party player for Vista anyone can recommend that will give me better audio? Thanks everyone! :)

P.S. Has anyone tried Slingbox with Vista Ultimate's Media Center? It looks like that would work great. Take care everyone...;)

Did you check the system sound settings to see how it's set?
How about the volumne control on the speakers?

Hmm...you might be right. I have the whole NMI Parity error BSOD issue, so maybe I just need a brand new motherboard. All players (real player, quicktime, the Ultimate Media Center DVD player) do the same. I also can't get the volume on XP as high as I think I should. It's just definitely bearable. It's always at or near FULL audio!

CrunchDude, there are a couple of golden rules in the land of tech support:

    1) Don’t overlook the obvious
    2) Don’t assume anything

Looks like Real Networks are a bit slow in fully suporting Real Player with Vista, although they say the latest version of 10.5 should work for most users. Well that's comforting. I guess you can download the latest and see.

    From the Real site...

    Question
Is RealPlayer supported on the Windows Vista operating system?

    Answer
Not yet. Although RealPlayer should work for most users on Windows Vista, we cannot guarantee that it will, and we cannot provide support for Vista at this time.
