I have just installed IE7....just wanted to see if it was any better than previous versions. I installed it over IE6...the download was designated as an "upgrade," and the problems below were not evident in version 6 (although I did use Mozilla most of the time.)

When I go to certain sites where I have to sign in, I keep getting thrown back to the sign in screen or I get a "bad login" message.

For instance...I have ebay listed as a trusted site. I think I have cookies allowed for ebay. But when I open the ebay site I first get a "The website declined to show this webpage" message ((HTTP 403 Forbidden) which states, in part that I need to log in. This is a message I do not get with Mozilla. However, when I do sign in, using the PW & UN I know works through Mozilla, I get thrown back to the sign in screen time and again.

Another site--a discussion forum--where I am the admin and which requires cookies to post and use, will allow me to post both as a private user and as admin, using my PW and UN's, but will not allow me to enter the Administration interface using that same UN and PW. I get a bad login message...which states (in part) that such messages usually occur when cookies are not enabled. This site is also in my Trusted sites.

My security setting are set for medium-high which, I believe, is the recommended default upon installation.

I can't figure out what is going or what settings to change. I do have Zone Alarm installed on my computer but all these sites work fine in both Mozilla and the latest version of Opera. The only problem appears to be in IE7.

Can anyone help or point me in a direction to resolve these problems?

    Thank you

DWFII--Click Tools|Manage Add-Ons and see if any are Disabled.
If not, you might want to uninstall IE7 (from Control Panel|Add/Remove--look under Windows). That will bring you back to IE6. See if everything works OK again in IE6.
Then reinstall IE7 using the procedure here

    P.S.
Is that the setting for Trusted Sites? That could be high. Default is Medium. Try Medium.

Thank you for the help...this is one of the best forums on the net--I can usually expect someone to offer some sound and reliable help within a very short time if not minutes.

however....uninstalling IE7 did not solve my login problem at my dicussion forum. I have a question posted on the developer's support forum. but I am not stuck as I can log in properly with Mozilla or Opera.

I also noted another problem while I still had IE7 installed which carried back over to IE6...when I try to access online support (from the menu bar "Help" menu) I get taken to Monarch Computers--which irritates the heck out of me not only because I can't get to help but because I have come to the conclusion that Monarch computers is evil (DAMHIKT)

So now I also want to know how to forcibly, if necessary, detach Monarch from my IE installation.

Try deleting the cookies for the problem sites and then try logging on to the sites.
