READ THIS BEFORE POSTING YOUR MALWARE PROBLEM

Welcome to the Malware and Virus Removal section of the WindowsBBS Forum

You must follow all these steps for posting to the forum! No shortcuts! Scroll down and read all!

  • Please remember that we are all volunteers, and that we come here to help when we can. With that in mind, please be patient when waiting for a response. Do NOT bump your topic! We try to resolve logs on a first come/first served basis. By bumping your log you will be pushed back in line due to the new date of your bump. If it has been seven days or more without a response, please PM a moderator or Admin with a link to your New Topic.
  • If you are receiving help for the same issue at another forum, do NOT start a topic for it here, unless you notify the other forum that you are doing so. Please inform us of this, and give us a link to that topic so that we can see what has been done.
Help us to help you!
  • Please start your own topic for help. It is not helpful to append your plea for help to someone else's topic. It only means that we must take the time to move it and give it a title, before we can respond. Once you have started a topic, please make all replies to that same topic.
  • Give your topic a title that reflects your reason for requesting help.
  • Tell us why you are posting, with as much relevant detail as possible. For example, if you are posting because your anti virus finds an infection but can't remove it, tell us if you can, what the name of the file is, where the file is located, what name your anti virus labels it as, etc.
  • We want to know what, if anything, you have done to resolve the issue(s) on your own. We want to know what tools you have used, if any, and what they found and/or removed. Be prepared to post logs from those tools ........ we will probably ask for them.
  • Be sure that you fully understand how to do what we might request of you. If you are unsure, ask before you proceed. We will happily give more precise or easier to understand instructions, so that it gets done properly. If you choose to follow our recommendations, do so as given, in the order given.
  • When instructed to, post all requested logs and let us know if things have changed, whether it's an improvement or not. We can't see how your computer is behaving, so we are relying on you to tell us.
  • Don't attach logs, copy & post logs in your post & reply(s). You'll most likely need multiple replies to post all your logs. You can post around 55,000 characters in a single post.

Getting started ........ what you need

STEP 1. Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your Desktop. Note: You need to run the version compatibale with your system. If you are not sure which version applies to your system download both of them and try to run them. Only one of them will run on your system, that will be the right version.

  • Double-click to run it. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
  • Press Scan button.
  • It will make a log (FRST.txt) in the same directory the tool is run. Please copy and paste it to your reply.
  • The first time the tool is run, it makes also another log (Addition.txt).
STEP 2. Start new topic in our Malware Removal forum and provide following logs:
  • FRST.txt
  • Addition.txt
Make sure all logs are pasted not attached. Attached logs won't be reviewed.
DO NOT make any other changes to your computer (like installing programs, using other cleaning tools, etc.), until it's officially declared clean!!!

******
  • Note - New member's topic and/or post might not immediately appear visible after posting. Some posts might require approval from a moderator prior to being visible to the public. Please be patient while waiting for approval and do not make duplicate posts.
******
  • Note - You may be required to split the logs into 2 or more posts due to their size and character count limitations in the forum software.
******
  • Note - Failure to follow the rules above will result in you not receiving any help.
