    Hi,
I am looking for a new computer and Amazon has this computer and several others called "ZT ". Does anyone know anything about this manufacturor?? They are supposed to be made in the USA:

ZT Reliant 829Xi-38 Desktop PC (Intel Core 2 Duo E7300 Processor, 4 GB RAM, 500 GB Hard Drive, XP Pro)

I like that it is using XP Pro and not Vista. Is this brand reliable? There are no reviews that I can find. Should I take the plunge or buy an HP or Dell or some other brand?

I use computers. I do not take them apart and install different parts in them.

    What do you think?

I had never heard of ZT systems until now. The system on ZT Systems' web site looks ok for the price. I too had some difficulty finding reviews, but here are some reviews but did find these

    Computer Shopper

    PC World

    About dot com

I just don't know about their customer service after sale support so you'll need to check that out. You can always call them and ask about support and see what kind of answers you get. You may also want to check the Better Business Bureau www.bbb.org to see if there are any complaints about the company.

The reviews look pretty good though.

    ZT Computer

    Thanks for your reply.

Well, I bought another HP (model a6655f) instead of the ZT brand. The HP came with a monitor and a all in one printer.

I'm very unhappy with it. After spending 3 days getting all of my programs on it the CD rom drive died. After going to the HP site and reading through the forum, I've decided that the HP brand is no longer reliable and I must move on to another brand. From the horror stories noted on the forum regarding getting help from HP, I've decided to buy an external CD rom drive rather than trying to get this resolved through HP.

Also, I did spend 3 days getting the computer up to date with the programs I use so I don't want to just take it back and start all over loading all of my programs on a new computer. What a job that was.

Just for your info, I loaded Addressbook 7.0 from Parsons Technology and Microsoft Office 97 onto the new VISTA 64 bit computer and they both work. Both of these programs are 11 years old or so. I also had no problems using a Maxtor external hard drive that's several years old as well.

    Thats a very nice system.

I am sorry to hear about the problems with HP. I bought an HP in May and have had no trouble at all. If the CDROM died, the system should be under warranty and they should repair or replace it.

In most forums, one generally only finds posts by people who have for some reason had a bad experience. If you look at the number of bad posts and mentally compare that to the number of people who likely bought an HP I think you'll find it doesn't balance.

HP offers online chat with technicians (which I have used before and after I bought my HP). The link is here

Don't dispair, give HP a chance to fix the problem - I think that is the only fair thing to do. If one of my customers was dissatified I would hope they would give me a chance make it right.

    Good Luck

    ZT Computer

Thank you, Mitchell Cooley, very much for your reply to my second message. I clicked on the link you provided and HP helped me with my problem and got the CD rom drive working again by deleting something in the registry. What a relief.

Thanks for your help. Without that link I wouldn't have tried to talk to HP. Maybe I spoke too quickly about HP and their new products.

You are very welcome. I am glad you got it fixed. You've got a lot of computer there; I wish I had waited a few months for that one come out.:)
